Things I Hate

  1. 86 degrees on Christmas (no joke).
  2. Indecisive drivers (I'm so far gone on this one that I sometimes think, "Just crash into me already! ANYTHING but the agony of trying to figure out what you're going to do!").
  3. Sleepless nights.
  4. My son not taking naps anymore.
  5. Other people's opinions (when they don't agree with mine).
  6. Mean people.
  7. My wife's attempts to organize me (she needs to focus on her own organization. Just sayin').
  8. Irresponsible parents.
  9. Washing dishes (love the cooking part).
  10. When nothing I want to watch is recorded (I almost said "taped") on the DVR.
  11. My car running on fumes.
  12. Haughty sales people. Let's get one thing straight: I'm shopping here. You're working here.
  13. Opening those pesky plastic produce bags. Because of these, buying produce always feels like some sadistic aptitude test for which I'm miserably ill-equipped. I'm also just paranoid enough to be convinced there's someone watching (and laughing at) me on the closed-circuit security camera.
What do you hate?

  1. I say "taped" all the time because I'm old and 80's habits die hard.

    1. And the 80's were great, weren't they? What a great time to grow up!

  2. I hate making up snow days, but having no snow on Christmas! Ugh... 2 hour delays are nice, but the -2 degree weather and the -14 windchill are a bit bracing.

  3. 1. Hypocrisy
    2. When my wife talks to me like I'm one of her Kindergarten students
    3. Lists
    4. Forgetting my phone as I drive off to do errands
    5. The endless mold and moss all over here, like on our cars that won't wash off no matter how many times we go through the car wash (Seattle problems)
    6. Being late

    1. I like your second one. You can imagine with both my wife and I being teachers that we have to remind each other often that we aren't in 1st or 4th grade!

  4. The first one I am a bit jealous of because it is 19 degrees here at 1 pm today, freezing and we have snow everywhere from the snow storm we had 2 days ago. Would switch in a heartbeat if you ever wanted. Hey I am just saying! But seriously many on your list are pet peeves of my own, too, especially a husband who gets in the mood to clean and organize sometimes. I am not a slop, but I hate having to be told how to do it, I suppose.

    1. I know, I know. I should be happy that it doesn't get cold here, but honestly it's depressing when it's so warm on the BIG day! I am glad you can understand when a spouse has a fit of organization OVERTAKE THEM!

  5. #1 Pet peeve: People driving under the speed limit in the left lane. I actually made a sign that I put in the window when I pass the on the right: "The left lane is for passing.... not SIGHTSEEING!"
    Yes, I drive angry.

    1. That is annoying, Tracy! I can only pray that I don't get in your way!

  6. I've said "taped" as well and agree that I hate when something I recorded is gone. Or it seems gone usually I f'd it up somehow.

Would it be weird to admit I like washing dishes? It's a cathartic, zen-like time for me.

    1. Yes, it's weird (but awesome) that you like to wash dishes!

  7. Based on #2 you will be glad to hear that on our recent trip down there we relied on trains, buses and taxis rather than attempting to navigate the highways ourselves.

On our Honeymoon we did rent a car. On the taxi ride to the rental place I asked the driver for tips for a tourist driver. He said to not stay in the right lane as that got on and off. To move over to the 2nd lane from the right. If we wanted to drive faster to go in the the third lane and to NEVER go in the fourth lane.

    1. Always a good idea to get some tips from the natives- if they're friendly!

  8. My baby is starting to give up naps. Mommy is not happy.

  9. I hate dusting! Seriously, it's the worst household chore ever. And, as someone mentioned above, I hate being late. I would rather be an hour early than a couple minutes late.

And our kids don't even know what it means to 'tape' a show (#10). hahaha
